Release show for new recording by Paurl Walsh, “Exploratory Orchestral Aestheses for the Induction of Ecstatic States in Human Subjects” on Obscure & Terrible
The new 4-movement work features an expanded orchestra performing textural music created entirely using extended technique playing, and features some of Seattle’s best contemporary classical players alongside amateur and student musicians. In it, Walsh explores the ability of musical sound to induce heightened/ecstatic/altered states in listeners, with each of the 4 movements interrogating a different potential approach.
